IBS Hyderabad, is a constituent of the Icfai Foundation for Higher
Education (IFHE), which was declared a deemed to be University under
section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The programs offered at IBS Hyderabad
are: Two year full time MBA program and PhD program.
IBS campuses are located at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Kolkata,
Mumbai and Pune. They offer two-year, full-time Management Programs to
prepare the students and equip them for successful corporate careers.
These campuses are independent professional institutions and are
neither affiliated to nor are off-campus centres of any university.
IBS Dehradun is a constituent of the ICFAI University, Dehradun.
ICFAI University,Dehradun is established through an Act of the State
Legislature of Uttarakhand and is recognized by UGC under Section 2(f)
of the UGC Act. IBS Dehradun offers the MBA program.
IBS Jaipur is a constituent of the ICFAI University, Jaipur. The
ICFAI University, Jaipur has been notified by the Government of
Rajasthan (Act No. 20 of 2011). IBS Jaipur offers the MBA program.
The two
year MBA/PGPM Program of IBS is designed to give graduates exposure to
management skills needed for the creation of specialists who can
integrate across functional areas in a dynamic organization.
The
Program provides a broad perspective of all areas of management. The
courses offered in the program are practice oriented with emphasis
placed on application of principles, tools and concepts to meet
challenges and problems faced in today’s organizations. These courses
are carefully designed to impart to students a managerial perspective in
formulating and implementing corporate strategy. Students learn to take
decisions critically and analytically taking into account the business
considerations and ethical implications of these decisions and to deepen
the understanding of the key functional areas and strategic dimensions
of management, and to encourage future professionals to equip themselves
with the latest tools and techniques.
SIP In addition to
the core and specialized courses offered in the program, IBS offers
Summer Internship Program (SIP) which forms an important component of
education at IBS. It is an attempt to bridge the gap between the
professional world and academic institutions. At the end of Semester II,
students undergo SIP which is for duration of 14 weeks. SIP is a
vehicle for introducing students to real-life situation, which cannot be
simulated in the classroom and requires the students to undergo the
rigor of professional environment both in form and substance. It exposes
them to technical skills and helps them to acquire social skills by
drawing them onto contact with real professionals.
The PhD program is designed for students interested in management
teaching, research, and consultancy. The main objectives of the program
are to:
- Develop management teachers well equipped with the skills required for imparting education to business school students
- Develop bright young academics with research skills to conduct research in contemporary issues in management
Course description
The PhD program has 4 phases, namely- Doctoral Coursework, Qualifying
Examination, Preparation of Research Proposal and Thesis Work which can
be completed in four years.
The candidates seeking admission for Full Time PhD Program with a
post graduate degree in disciplines other than Management (MBA) are
required to attend and clear the semester-1 and semester-2 courses of
MBA program at IBS Hyderabad with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 as a
pre-requisite to pursue PhD in Management.
The doctoral coursework ensures the students pick up the necessary
functional skills to carry out Doctoral Thesis Research through
seminars, courses and research projects. During the first two years, the
students learn the basics of efficient and effective management
instruction. They also experience the case method through the writing of
cases as well as intensive workshops on teaching and soft skills. At
the end of the coursework, students undergo the Qualifying Examination,
which tests the student’s knowledge of the prescribed areas and their
ability to apply it in original research.
Upon clearing the Qualifying Examination, the students register for
the independent study seminars and prepare their PhD. thesis proposal
under the guidance of a Doctoral Advisory Committee.
In the third year, the full time students are eligible to spend 6
months in a foreign University under the Visiting Scholar Program
(optional) on self-supported basis. By the end of second year or early
third year, they defend their thesis proposal and start working on their
Ph.D. thesis. They complete the PhD. thesis work in the fourth year.
