Government Polytechnic, Pune, an autonomous institute of Government of Maharashtra is established in the year 1957. Institute is awarded academic autonomy in May 1994. It houses in its 28 acre campus: main building, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Science department building, Electronics and DDGM department building, staff quarters, workshop building, exam section building, conference halls, hostels, classrooms for various disciplines, library, canteen, mess, post office, cooperative stores, etc.
Over the last four decades, several thousand diploma engineers passed out from various disciplines are contributing their expertise for industries and various Government departments. Institute has won several prestigious awards in academics as well as socio-cultural activities. Overall, contribution of this institute in technical education of country and development of a progressive society is significant
Civil Engineering colleges
It gives me an immense pride and pleasure to lead the Civil Engineering Department of this esteemed and prestigious institution. The Department of Civil Engineering has been started in the academic year 1957; at present we have an intake of 120+60*(Part Time Diploma).
Civil Engineering is a front runner because of its academic performance, recognition and appreciation by industry and academia. The Civil Engineering is an art of applying Mathematics and Science to create a better world for everyone to live in. From stone-made bridges to cable-stayed eight-lane bridges, we have come a long way only because of successful Civil Engineering. The future of Civil Engineering is not just limited to the geographical boundaries of our country. One of the main reasons for such rapid development of this engineering discipline is the rapid increase in population and urbanization.
The Department of Civil Engineering, Government Polytechnic, Pune fulfills the requirements of acquisition of various skills by well designed curriculum, well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and hardworking staff, well equipped infrastructure like laboratories and effective teaching learning process. Electrical Engineering
The Electrical Engineering Department was established in 1957. It offers three years' duration post SSC Full time and Part-time Diplomas in Electrical Engineering approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
From 1957 to 1994, the programmes offered by the department were affiliated to Board of Technical Examination (BTE), Mumbai now known as Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) Mumbai. In 1994, the institute was awarded academic autonomy. Hence, from 1994 onwards the Diplomas are awarded by the institute itself.
Well qualified and experienced faculty members and supporting staff, well equipped laboratories, excellent academic results, strong connection with the industries and the alumni are the strengths of the department.

Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Government Polytechnic Pune.
