Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) programme aims at achieving a high level of appropriate quality in architectural design. Both theory and workshop training are the fulcrum of the curriculum with critical ideas being delivered by professionals focusing in the fields of design, humanities, engineering and technology. A sturdy ground work of inter-disciplinary skills interconnected to spaces and construction settings are presented to the scholars. Amid others, these skills consist of illustration, architectural exhibition, research and writing, computer applications, technical and managerial abilities in problem description and resolution.
The programme is designed for five years and is distributed into two phases. The first phase comprises of three years of full time study monitored by hands-on training in professional workplaces or at building locations. The second phase entails of full time study for one and a half year, wherein each and every student is supposed to write a research based dissertation, prepare for a conference and present a project thesis alongside compulsory and elective theory courses.
Throughout this five year programme we strive to provide a comprehensive architectural training, which we consider, opens avenues to several other vocation selections and job prospects for personal benefits of the scholars in the public, private, NGO and multinational corporate sectors.
School of Basic & Applied Sciences
School of Basic & Applied Sciences (SoBAS), officially launched on 22nd February 2019, is functional since 2013 under the aegis of School of Engineering at G D Goenka University. The school is engaged in creation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of basic and applied sciences through innovative teaching-learning practices and cutting-edge research. At present, there are 6 departments housed in SoBAS viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Forensic Science, leading to bachelors, masters and doctoral programmes, that aim to provide students with a strong foundation in fundamental principles of science and foster them to apply this knowledge to real-life problems.The school is committed to provide academic excellence through globally benchmarked curricula, world-class faculty, state-of-the-art laboratories and interdisciplinary approach to education. The school aims at bestowing holistic education through Flexible Credit System (FCS) and Outcome based Learning approach to inculcate multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary competence and leadership skills in the students. The unique undergraduate and postgraduate curricula gives students the ôžexibility to choose multiple electives across departments.
The School engrosses post-graduate as well as undergraduate academic programmes with highly qualified faculty who have strong commitment towards excellence in teaching and research. The students are provided with research avenues collaboratively with industry, government, non-profit organizations, and research institutions in India and abroad to solve real world problems.
Our faculty members at School of Basic and Applied Sciences are from national and international reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, IISC Bangalore. Some are having post-doctoral experience from Europe & US. They are actively involved in cutting edge research in the areas of basic and applied sciences, publishing vigorously in premier SCI indexed journals. Some of the faculty members have successfully been able to fetch research grants by SERB (DST), Ministry of Science & Development. The school has well equipped and state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with a wide range of sophisticated experimental facilities to supportthe academic activities including research. The school also houses an intellectually stocked ‘Learning Resource Centre’ with books and E- Resourcesto provide a pleasant and stimulating learning ambience.The students are regularly taken for industrial trips to industry and othereminent institutions and all the visits are strongly correlated with their programme structure
School of Mass Communication
Today we are all residents of a global village and this phenomenon is largely due to the rapid progress we have made in the realm of Communication. That is why Mass Communication continues to dominate the academic landscape, offering a plethora of career options ranging from Television Production to Event Management, from Digital Photography to Print Journalism and from Advertising to Radio Production. The role played by the Media has increased manifold over the decades and in current times can be considered a strong pillar on which freedom of speech rests and thrives.
Keeping this in perspective, our mission is to impart knowledge to the students in a broad range of media careers with a view to preparing them for a future career in Journalism and Mass communication. Our unique teaching pedagogy gives students an insight into the vast field of mass media and communication. Our state of the art infrastructure enables students to get, 'hands on' training in the various fields, thereby facilitating an easy transition from academics to industry.
Our internship programme involves the placement of our students with reputed Media houses and organizations for a period of 4-6 weeks, at the end of the sixth semester. During their Internship students gain valuable practical hands-on experience which in turn contributes in the development of their skills and expertise in the specific fields chosen by them. Field based Internship also forges a linkage between theoretical concepts and current practices prevailing in the industry. On completion of their Internship program, students will have to submit a project report under the guidance mentors from the Industry and the University who will also conduct a Viva Voce on the relevant discipline chosen by the students.
