About the University
Apeejay Stya University (ASU) is a seat of global learning that offers rich opportunities for innovative teaching-learning, creativity and research across disciplines. It aims to bring about transformation of society through valuebased education, man-making and nation-building by blending the dual identities of a technology and research-based university with a Liberal Arts institution. ASU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Established by the Apeejay Stya Education Foundation in the state of Haryana [under Act No. 10 of the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act 2010], ASU provides students not only ‘education for living and livelihood’ but also ‘education for life’ and empowers learners with a fundamental foundation in leadership and professional skills to face the challenges of the new liberalised global economy.
Situated amidst a sprawling, picturesque campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure on the Sohna-Palwal Road in the Gurugram district of Haryana, ASU offers a wide range of innovative graduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across a plethora of disciplines that are based on the best education practices of some of the leading universities of the world. These are greatly facilitated by the strong industry-academia linkages, already established by the existing Apeejay Stya institutions of higher learning in all disciplines being offered by the University.
School of Engineering & Technology (SOET)
The Engineering curriculum at ASU instills the techniques and skills of Problem Analysing, Solving and Engineering Design through the study of basic and advanced Engineering Science. These are integrated with practical experience, which addresses both technical and non-technical aspects of Engineering. The students get exposed to equipment and laboratory facilities designed in sync with the curriculum and various emerging fields like Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things & Robotics. ASU inculcates in its students the acumen to identify
, analyse and solve complex engineering and business application-related problems. They get hands-on experience in co-specialising, drones and satellites technologies. School of Engineering & Technology, ASU was recognised as the ‘Most Promising Engineering Institute in India’ by Jagran Josh in 2017 & 2018. Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, in collaboration with the United Nations, has selected ASU’s School of Engineering and Technology as the ‘E-Gov. Campus of Gurugram District, Haryana’. ASU’s School of Engineering & Technology has been rated in AAA+ category in Haryana by Digital Learning Magazine (Top Engineering Institutes Ranking 2018).
School of Design & Visual Arts (SDVA)
Students are offered industry oriented programs where creative learning and exploration empowers them with strong design aesthetics and key skills to provide design based solutions. Students learn by doing with studio based learning and continuous industry interface.
Studio and Workshop
- All creative ideas and concepts are frozen in well-equipped design studios with facilities like spot lighting, full scale boards for freedom to sketch & illustrate, and custom-designed furniture to set the right mood for students of design.
- The students have access to state-of-the-art computer labs and latest graphics/ design software to shape their ideas into reality.
- Each specific area of design studio is attached to a specific workshop. Fashion Design, for instance, is attached to a Fabrication Lab, wherein, all design concepts are actually fabricated into garments with the help of latest machines.
- Similarly, visual concepts are carried out in the Photography Lab and all design concepts of the interiors are fabricated in the Carpentry Workshop aided with the latest equipment.
School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SJMC)
The programmes at the School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SJMC) are specially designed to train students in the emerging fields of media, advertising, corporate communication and entertainment industry.
Courses have been structured to equip aspiring students for various platforms such as Television, Radio/FM, Advertising, Public Relations, Event Management, Newspaper/Magazine and Digital Media.
Students are trained in content writing, anchoring, news broadcast, photography, print journalism & online journalism. SJMC has bagged the ‘Best RJ Link for EV-AIR’ award for their programme CYBER ABUSESTOP IT! (a campaign aimed at digital safety of children) at the UNICEF Radio4child Awards
School of Biosciences (SBS)
The School of Biosciences brings leading scientists of the country and eminent industrialists based in bio-businesses on the same platform to jointly generate quality manpower with skill sets to match the requirements of the industry. With industry associates, Martin & Harris Pvt. Ltd., Walter Bushnell Healthcare Foundation and ASG Biochem Pvt. Ltd, high profile multi-tiered programmes have been designed to cater to different levels of the Biotech, Bio-Pharma and Healthcare sector. Cutting edge researches by faculty on Healthcare, Ecophysiology and Ornithology have placed the country on the world map.
