Our curriculum is founded upon over 85 years of experience at Abbey Road Studios, developing innovative recording techniques and training assistant engineers who have since become well respected sound engineers and producers in their own right.
During this intensive, one year programme you’ll learn from the extensive knowledge and expertise created at Abbey Road Studios. You’ll have access to industry standard equipment and studios and be taught by experts including guest lectures with multi award winning professionals. Train with us and become part of a global network in the recording industry.
The diploma will develop you as a rounded professional, with technical skills, knowledge and expertise. You’ll be guided with creative and informed approach to production and engineering and an understanding of the music business and how it operates.

This 2-year part-time programme is designed for those who want to combine the study with a job. You’ll learn from the extensive knowledge and expertise created at Abbey Road Studios. You’ll have access to industry standard equipment and studios and be taught by experts including guest lectures with multi award winning professionals. Train with us and become part of a global network in the recording industry.

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE DAY LOOK LIKE AT ABBEY ROAD INSTITUTE?
Our Advanced Diploma in Music Production & Sound Engineering is available as an intensive, full time programme or as a part time programme. During the full time course, you will have a daily timetable of lectures of 5 days a week; during the part time course 2 / 3 days a week. This includes class with our core team as well as weekly lectures with industry experts.
The Institute is open 6 days a week, and we encourage you to use the studios and equipment as much as possible to make the most of your time at Abbey Road Institute and the studios. This means you can be working and recording during the evenings and weekends in addition to your timetabled lectures and workshops.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE ADVANCED DIPLOMA?
The application process for our diploma is straightforward. You can apply online via our application portal here.
You will need to complete all of the necessary questions and upload copies of the required documents and your music portfolio. If you do not have copies of your qualifications or are waiting for your results, you may still submit your application form to be considered.
We interview all applicants that meet the entry requirements. If you are in the Netherlands we would like to interview you in person. If you are applying from another country and not able to travel to the Netherlands we can interview you on Skype or a similar platform.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT AND FUNDING OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
We offer different payment options to support you in being able to fund your studies with us. You can choose to spread the payment throughout your time at Abbey Road or you can pay the full amount upfront and receive a discount on the course fees.
Full Time Course

As the Advanced Diploma is not a 3 year degree programme, the course is not eligible for any kind of student loan. We are however an CRKBO-approved short vocational education: therefore, it is possible to deduct a part of the tuition fee as study costs of your income taxes. This means that the actual costs of the course can be significantly less, depending on the tax bracket you are in.
I AM AN INTERNATIONAL (NON-EU) STUDENT, CAN I APPLY TO ABBEY ROAD INSTITUTE?
Unfortunately Abbey Road Institute is not currently able to sponsor Visas for international students. You will only be able to study with us if you do not need a study Visa to study in the Netherlands, or if you already have a different kind of resident or working permit. However, we do our best to help international applicants from outside Europe with their visa arrangements!
If you have dual nationality and hold an EU passport you can apply to study at Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam.
